I now have a Nokia N8 →
So hello 5800 will be rarely updated. That said my 5800 is my back up phone. It was unlocked out of the box (thank you carphone warehouse) and the settings wizzard makes sure it just works whatever sim i put in it - where ever i am - essential for travelling and using local sims.
So it’s not quite goodbye 5800, but you’ve been a fine companion. The C6 / C7 look like awesome mass...

Just installing V50 via Over the Air, as I don’t have a windows PC I have to wait for the Other The Air updates. Just in time for a trip to ireland, where i use the 5800 as my main phone, and constantly use the awesome OVI maps navigation.

nokia charger exchange program.
OK so clearly the word ‘recall’ has been avoided like the plague, you can see if you are effected here: http://chargerexchange.nokia.com/chargerexchange/en/ The charger that came with my 5800 (AC-8X) is not one of the listed ones, phew.
“
The affected chargers are those manufactured by BYD between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009 and with the following model types AC -3U...

Well, it had to happen, a ‘flight control’ clone on Ovi Store. If you haven’t an iPod touch/iPhone and haven’t lost your life to Flight Control, this will give you a taste. But it comes without the effortless joy and slick gameplay of Flight Control. Also it’s almost 4 times the price.
LocoRoco on the 5800. Wow, sony have ported a few psp/playstation titles to mobile platforms, which seems an odd strategy. Still its basically the same game, sadly using touch controls rather than accelerometer, Its been ported in portrait only too, though its not an issue with this title. But landscape and motion controls would of greatly improved it. It struggles and isn’t as slick as...

N97 or 5800 comes with music?
So I’ve been using an E71 for a while now, and I generally love it - but i miss the quality camera of the 5800 - yes its not the best camera in the world but for casual use its head and shoulders above the E71. The N97 is out now, to univeral disinterest. Its a nice enough phone but not quite wowing me. I’m tempted back to the 5800, its not a perfect phone but i liked it. And with...

Waaaaaahhhhh I lost my 5800
DAMN IT. I lost my 5800 on thursday night. :( x100. So I’m left with the decision to buy a new one or wait til the N97 comes out and go back to an N95 til then. I have insurance but I stupidly hadnt registed. I called T-Mobile late at nigth as soon as i realised it had gone and they blocked the IMEI and are sending me a new sim, at a £10 charge :(

flip to silent
Thanks for everyone that pointed out exactly how ‘flip to silent’ actually works. Mine does work perfectly - it’s just not the functionalityI expected. But i did find it useful in a meeting when it did call - so hurrah. I just need to work out countdown timed profile setting, and a Quick way to set silent for say an hour. As its too easy to just touch power / then tap silent....
plus and minus - download!
Well since updating to v11.0.009 last night - download now updates its catalogue - HURRAH!
However when i try to install anything (panoman or photoflow for example) I get an error message “Expired Certificate” - FAIL!!!!
roll on MWC and the nokia app store.
The 5800 is suppost to support flip to silent mode - it’s on in the settings - but does not seem to work - as i found out when my phone started ringing in a meeting today. I’ve recreated the bug in the video above (im on the v11.0.009 firmware now, was on 008 when I discovered the problem)
